Alabama Honor Strings Festival
November 18-21

1 October 2004 — The Walters Department of Music and the Alabama Chapter of the American String Teachers' Association will host the Alabama Honor Strings Festival and the Alabama ASTA Solo and Ensemble Contest on November 18-21, 2004. The events will take place in Mason Hall on the JSU campus. String students and teachers from throughout the state of Alabama will be on campus during these days.

The Solo and Ensemble Contest is an annual event, giving string students an opportunity to perform and be critiqued. The Alabama Honor Strings Festival will feature two string orchestras, conducted by Todd Norton of the Magic City Chamber Orchestra and Joseph Lee of the Hunstville Youth Orchestras. Both events will conclude with a concert on Sunday, November 21, at 1 p.m. in the Performance Center in Mason Hall. There is no admission fee for the concert.

Gagliardo is the President of the Alabama State Chapter of the American String Teachers' Association. He is the Music Director and Conductor of the Jacksonville State University/Community Orchestra, and an adjunct faculty member in the JSU Walters Department of Music. He also serves as the Music Director and Conductor of the Etowah Youth Orchestras in Gadsden.
