UA Profs Contribute to JSU's Books for Baghdad Project

Professors from the University of Alabama delivered their first shipment of textbooks to Jacksonville State University for the Books for Baghdad program Friday afternoon. Dr. John Vincent, second from left, and Dr. Stephen Woski, third from left, both of the UA Chemistry Department, dropped off one ton of books at JSU's Martin Hall where Dr. Kelly Gregg, far left,  and Dr. Safaa Al-Hamdani, far right, who organized the project, received the books for donation to Baghdad University. Included in the shipment was a complete set of journals from the American Chemical Society. The more than 500 books valued at $10,000 were all from UA's Chemistry Department. Other professors in other departments at UA are in the process of gathering books. Cash donations for shipping the books to Baghdad University are still being sought. Those wishing to donate may  make checks payable to Books for Baghdad and send in care of Dr. Safaa Al-Hamdani, Jacksonville State University, 700 Pelham Rd. N., Jacksonville, AL 36265.
