JSUCO To Present
Annual Fall Concert

October 2, 2003 -- The Jacksonville State University/Community Orchestra will present its annual Fall Concert on Sunday, November 16, 2003, at 2 p.m. The concert will be held at First United Methodist Church on the corner of 14th and Noble Streets in downtown Anniston. The concert is free of charge, and is open to the public. The program will include Ludwig van Beethoven's Symphony No. 8 in F Major, the "Brook Green" Suite by Gustav Holst, and Chorale from Partita for Orchestra by Stella Sung. Chorale will be performed on the program in memory of Anniston resident Grace Hooten Gates, who passed away this summer, and who was a founding member of the violin section of the JSUCO.

The program will also feature Gioacchino Rossini's Introduction, Theme, and Variations for Clarinet and Orchestra, with clarinet soloist Rachel Easterwood. Easterwood, who is a sophomore at the Manhattan School Of Music in New York City, is an Anniston native. She currently studies with Charles Neidich and was the second prize winner in the 2002 International Clarinet Association High School Solo Competition. She has also participated in the Arts Recognition and Talent Search program and has been featured on the radio program "From The Top."

The JSUCO, in its 11th season, is under the direction of Michael R. Gagliardo. For more information, please contact Kim Wells at (256) 782-5559.
