Music Faculty Performs at JSU


September 12, 2003 -- The Music Faculty at Jacksonville State University will present a faculty recital on Sunday, September 14 at 3:00 in the Performance Center in Mason Hall on the JSU campus. The concert is a benefit and all donations will be used for the award of a Legacy Scholarship to a JSU music student.

The event will feature many members of the JSU Music Faculty in a varied and entertaining Sunday afternoon program. Performers will include Teresa Cheatham Stricklin, soprano; Patricia Corbin, contralto; Nathan Wight, baritone; John Merriman, trumpet; Jeff Solomon, French Horn; Jerryl Davis, oboe; and pianists Wendy Channel, Gail Steward and Legare McIntosh. Also featured will be the jazz duo of Chip Crotts and Tracy Tyler.

Music faculty members at JSU direct and support an intensive and exciting curricular program of academic courses, ensembles, performing groups and soloists that trains students for careers as musical performers and music educators. As well as maintaining demanding teaching schedules, JSU music faculty are engaged in a wide variety of musical performance and research activities. These faculty members represent the largest group of professional musicians in northeast Alabama.

The concert is free to the public although donations will be accepted. Ample and convenient parking is available on campus adjacent to Mason Hall. For additional information, contact the JSU Department of Music at 782-5559.
