Titmice At Breakfast

One of the joys of living in Jacksonville is the abundant wildlife, especially birds. These titmice and the blind finch were photographed early Sunday morning on the balcony of the home of Al and Patt Harris.

It's dawn on Sunday and the titmice hit the sunflower cakes for breakfast.

The purple finch at right is blind and could not survive without bird feeders.

Each species looks pretty much alike until you get acquainted with each bird and his habits.

We have six feeders, including two bell-shaped cakes of seed, which the titmice prefer.

This one really enjoys the challenge of pecking out the hard-packed seed.

The squirrel is a regular, too.
