Library & Ladiga Trail Ceremonies Slated for Oct. 21 |

JACKSONVILLE -- October 8, 2002 -- The public is invited to the rededication ceremony for Houston Cole Library at 1 p.m. on Monday, October 21 in front of the building and the dedication of the JSU portion of the Chief Ladiga Trail at 2 p.m. Speakers for the library rededication will include Board of Trustee Chairman Pete Mathews, President Bill Meehan, Dr. Rebecca Turner, vice president for academic and student affairs, and Mr. Bill Hubbard, university librarian. Former JSU Presidents Dr. Harold J. McGee and Dr. Theron Montgomery will assist with the ribbon cutting. The ceremony follows months of work resurfacing the exterior of the building with red granite after it was discovered that the old white marble exterior was crumbling. The ceremony will also include dedication of the Fifth Floor in memory of the late Dr. Alta Millican, former head librarian. The ceremony for the Chief Ladiga Trail will commence at the JSU Gazebo on the trail at 2 p.m. For more information, please contact the office of Dr. Turner at 782-5540. |
