JACKSONVILLE -- September 25, 2002 -- Jacksonville State University's Marching Southerners are the model marching band. At least that's what organizers of the Bands of America Grand Nationals in Indianapolis, Indiana seem to think. They have invited the Southerners to perform in exhibition at the Grand Nationals in November.

The Bands of America Grand Nationals competition features the best high school marching bands in the country competing for the title of National Champion. At the end of the competition, in front of an audience of 50,000, the Marching Southerners will perform as an example of what marching bands can accomplish.

JSU's Marching Southerners are nationally recognized as one of the top marching bands in the country. This is a repeat performance for the Southerners, having been the exhibition band at the Grand Nationals in 1999.

Tax-deductible contributions can be made to the Marching Southerners for the trip through the JSU Foundation.
