JSU Field School’s Fall Hike Season


JACKSONVILLE -- August 27, 2002 -- Enjoy the natural beauty of Little River Canyon with a series of easy hikes with the JSU Field School staff. Highlights include the Canyon’s geology, fall foliage, and wildlife. There will be two separate hikes on September 21st, one from 9:00 a.m. until noon and the other from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. The fee is $5.00 per person for one hike, or you can enjoy both hikes for $8.00.

For those interested in a more moderately strenuous hike, join us on October 5th from 10:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. for our Fall Color Hike. This hike will explore Fall colors around DeSoto State Park and highlight exactly what it is many people drive for miles to see. The fee for this hike is $10.00 per person.

Finally, our last hike of the season takes us on a beautiful segment of the Pinhoti Trail. The section of the trail that we will hike on is located near the southern end of the Talladega District in the Talladega National Forest. This is also a moderately strenuous hike that will take place on November 2nd from 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. The fee for this hike is $10.00 per person.

With all of our hikes please make sure to bring a daypack with lunch, snacks, water, and any other personal needs. Good boots are recommended, and make sure to dress for the weather.
