JACKSONVILLE -- November 13, 2001 --
During halftime of the JSU vs. Troy State football game, the "Marching
Southerners" and Troy State's "Sound of the South" will unite in a
patriotic salute to America. The halftime program will feature "My Home's
in Alabama," "America the Beautiful," "God Bless America," and "Going
Home," and will conclude with the premiere of "We Are America," composed
by multi-platinum songwriter Brandon Barnes. This song, inspired by the
tragedy of September 11, will be performed by vocalist Will Thompson and
the nearly 600 members of the combined JSU and TSU marching bands. The
traditional "Battle of the Bands" will take place after the football game,
with both bands performing their complete 2001 field shows.
