JSU Jazz Ensemble Concert on Nov. 10


JACKSONVILLE -- November 8, 2001 -- The JSU Jazz Ensemble will perform on Saturday, November 10, 2001 at 7:00 pm in the Performance Center, Mason Hall on the campus of Jacksonville Sate University. The Jazz Ensemble will perform many different styles of jazz from old to new. A medium swinger "Pete's Feet" by Jim McNeeley, will be featured as the concert opener. "Like a Child", a ballad by Thad Jones and "A View from the Side" by Bill Holman will also be on the program. The JSU Lab Band JSU's second jazz Big Band, will be featured as the opening act of the evening.

The JSU Jazz Ensemble is Jacksonville State University's premier jazz band. The group has a rigorous performing schedule which includes several campus and community concerts each semester, appearances at jazz festivals in the southeast and a recruiting tour in May. The Jazz Ensemble has performed at the Mobile Jazz Festival, the University of Louisville Jazz Festival, the Emory Jazz Festival and has previously been invited to perform at the prestigious Montreux Jazz Festival in Montreaux, Switzerland.

The concert is free and the public is cordially invited to attend an entertaining evening of fine jazz. Support live jazz at Jacksonville State University.
