JSU Canyon Center Anniversary Already?

June 11th, 2007

Yes. One year ago today, Jacksonville State University broke ground in DeKalb County, Alabama for the construction of a 23,000 square foot Canyon Center. The work that’s been done over the past 12 months is simply amazing!

Ahead of schedule, Eidson Construction Inc., and Jenkins, Munroe, Jenkins architecture have so far exceeded expectations with the construction of a beautiful facility that will help to change the future of Northeast Alabama.

The building, which is LEED (Leadership for Environmental and Energy Design - http://www.usgbc.org) registered, adjoins the Little River Canyon National Preserve - http://www.nps.gov/liri/.

Scheduled to open to the public in early 2009, it will feature reception areas, meeting rooms, a library, shop, auditorium, museum, outdoor amphitheatre, an extensive walking trail system and office space for the National Park Service.

While the primary purpose for the Canyon Center is education, it will also be available as a facility for meetings, conferences, concerts, lectures, weddings, social occasions and much more.
