JSU’s EPIC Featured in Business Magazines

Both Alabama Seaport and Business Alabama magazines are currently featuring the work of Jacksonville State University’s Environmental Policy and Information Center (EPIC).

“It’s really satisfying when JSU gets recognized for receiving outside support of the work we do,” said Pete Conroy, EPIC Director.

The March and April issues of Alabama Seaport featured a variety of JSU projects including the development of the Pinhoti Trail and its connection to the Appalachian Trail. It also features the Chief Ladiga Trail, its connection to Georgia’s Silver Comet Trail and the development of a Coco-Cola sponsored Stateline Gateway. Other projects highlighted are the creation of the Dugger Mountain Wilderness, the reuse of the former Fort McClellan and the establishment of the Alabama Symphony Orchestra’s summer home: Music at McClellan. The March article is entitled “The City of Anniston: Connecting Towns with Nature” and the April issue is entitled “Alabama Ecotourism is Expanding… All the way to Maine.”

The May issue of Business Alabama features JSU’s Canyon Center in DeKalb County along with its partnership with the National Park Service and the Alabama Power Company. It is entitled “The High Yield on Well-Cultivated Nature”, with a subheading that reads “The Little River Canyon Center will soon crown Northeast Alabama’s Treasury of ecotourism, with a resource to rival any in the National Park Service.”
