iPods/JSU Backpacks Awarded in NSSE Drawing among Survey Participants

 

One hundred three JSU freshmen and seniors became winners this week, simply by participating in a short web survey.

 

Earlier this spring, the Office of Institutional Research and Assessment in conjunction with the Student Government Association issued the call to 2,918 freshmen and seniors to take the National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE), which measures universities’ success in providing a quality college experience. Among the subjects covered: how and where students spend their time, the nature and quality of their interactions with faculty and peers, and what they have gained academically and socially from their time at college.

 

Thus far, JSU’s response to the survey has been encouraging. Participation is up 21% over the response rate for the 2006 survey.

 

To boost response to the survey, the Office of Institutional Research and Assessment announced that it would draw from the pool of participants to give away three iPod Touches and 100 JSU drawstring backpacks.

On Monday the drawings were held, and the winners of the iPod Touches, donated by the President's Office, were Hayley Deering, Andrew Smythe and Desiree Wyrosdick.
