Featuring Dr. John S. Jahera
Colonial Bank Distinguished Professor


Dr. John S. Jahera

Dr. John S. Jahera, Colonial Bank Distinguished Professor, will be visiting JSU on Monday, March 31, 2008. He will be presenting a research paper entitled “What Determines the Number and Value of Bank Mergers and Acquisitions Around the Globe?” in the Eminent Scholar Research Series. His presentation will be at 10:00 a.m. in Room 204 Merrill Building.

Professor Jahera earned his Ph.D. (1982), MBA (1977), and Bachelor’s Degree (1971) from the University of Georgia in Athens. He joined the faculty at Auburn University in 1980 and has served as an Assistant, Associate and Full Professor. He was named the Colonial Bank Distinguished Professor in 1995, has served as Interim Dean and is currently the Head of the Finance Department. Dr. Jahera has published approximately seventy journal articles in his career in publications such as the Journal of Banking and Finance, the Journal of Financial Research, the Journal of Business Finance and Accounting, and many others. He is active in the Financial Management Association and the Southern Finance Association.
