WISE Joins Global V-Day Movement:
Holding Auditions for Local Benefit Performance
of Vagina Monologues

In association with the global V-Day benefit events, WISE (Women's Issues Support and Empowerment) is holding auditions for the local production of Vagina Monologues at JSU McClellan Center tonight (Tuesday, February 26) at 6:00. V-Day is a global movement to stop violence against women and girls. Through productions of Eve Ensler’s The Vagina Monologues, college students and local volunteers raise awareness and funds for anti-violence groups within their own communities.

In 2006, 2,700+ V-Day benefit events took place across the United States. The year 2008 marks the first year JSU plans to be actively involved.  Funds raised will go to support New Orleans Rape Crisis centers, The Daybreak Crisis Recovery Center and the JSU WISE Legacy Scholarship.

Women everywhere continue to face terrible violence. Violence against women will only end when we joint together to speak up and speak loudly. Through V-Day campaigns, local volunteers and college students produce annual benefit performances of the Vagina Monologues to raise awareness and funds for anti-violence groups within their communities.

Who can be involved? . . . Anyone and Everyone regardless of age, gender, race, religion, or orientation. All JSU students and alumni are encouraged to participate. No acting experience is required.
