It is Simple: Education Pays

Given the pending debate over the diminished funding in the Education Trust Fund Budget, the Higher Education Partnership has one simple and clear point to make: EDUCATION PAYS. The Partnership, representing the advocacy voice of the students, faculty, staff, alumni and other university supporters, is poised to clearly illustrate that university investments are good for the state and its people. Two clear examples are:

1. From the youngest Alabamian to the oldest of the state’s citizens, health care is provided by professionals that are trained by Alabama’s universities. Without good health care, the state cannot have a sound economy.

2. Every professional with a responsibility to educate, train and transfer knowledge to the next generation is dependant on the universities of Alabama. From the educational experts in the day care centers, the secondary classrooms and post-secondary schools to the university classrooms and labs; the role of higher education is critical.

As the 2008 legislative session unfolds, The Higher Education Partnership intends to clearly illustrate that equitable treatment of all of the public education components is essential. To have an educational system that produces excellence, all of public education (Pre-K through Ph. D.) must be deemed important and treated fairly.

The Partnership reminds all university advocates to be on call. Stand ready to tell the story that education pays!
