Council for Exceptional  Children to Hold 27th Annual "SuperConference"

On February 8 & 9th the Alabama Federation of the Council for Exceptional Children (CEC) will host its 27th Annual "SuperConference" at the Wynfrey Hotel in Birmingham. There is a great line-up of speakers including US Rep. Artur Davis (7th District of Alabama); the National Director of State Departments of Special Education (NASDE) Alabama's very own, Dr. Mabrey Whetstone, and our Friday morning headliner, Jeff Lewis http://www.dontworryaboutme.com.

Jeff is a teacher who "woke up one day" to discover that he had survived a very rare disease...but lost all four limbs in the process. Today, he continues to teach, enjoys bowling and inspires all who meet him. This is a "don't miss" opportunity!

There are over 40 concurrent sessions and 8 mini-workshops on special education topics ranging from teaching children who have severe/multiple disabilities, students with mild learning challenges and a two-day strand on children who are gifted and talented.

The conference will also feature artwork from the national Helen Keller Art Festival and the ever popular "Silent Auction" which will be held on Friday, February 8th. For more information on this fun-filled and inspiring conference, please visit our website at www.afcec.org or contact Dr. Larry Beard (lbeard@jsu.edu) or Dr. Teresa Gardner (tgardner@jsu.edu).

We invite you to attend and participate!
