Awards Presented to
JSU Spring 2007 Graduates
with Highest GPA
in Field of Study

Dr. Joe Delap, left, and Mr. Clarence Daugette, right, are shown here presenting the DR. CLARENCE WILLIAM DAUGETTE AWARD to "the male graduate with the highest grade point average. This year's recipient is Uzoma Bruno Duru, center. Mr. Duru, of Nigeria, graduated summa cum laude with special honors in Biology and received the Bachelor of Science degree. As a recipient of this award, Mr. Duru received a silver tray, engraved in his honor, and a certificate.

Dr. Joe Delap, left, and Mr. Clarence Daugette, right, are shown here presenting the ANNIE FORNEY DAUGETTE AWARD to the female graduate with the highest grade point average in Art. This year's recipient is Mary Kathryn Benefield. Ms. Benefield, of Lineville, AL graduated summa cum laude with special honors in Art and received the Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. As a recipient of this award, Ms. Benefield received a silver tray, engraved in her honor, and a certificate.

This year's recipient is Rebecca Jane Gossett. Ms. Gossett, of Piedmont, AL graduated summa cum laude with special honors in Elementary Education and received the Bachelor of Science in Education degree. As a recipient of this award, Ms. Gossett received a silver tray, engraved in her honor, and a certificate.

FORNEY AWARD to the student commissioned into the United States Army with the highest grade point average. This year's recipient is Joshua C. Matthews. Mr. Matthews, of Boaz, AL graduated magna cum laude with special honors in Criminal Justice and received the Bachelor of Science degree. As a recipient of this award, Mr. Matthews received a silver pitcher, engraved in his honor, with two silver goblets and a certificate.
