Free Small Business Workshop
for Minority Community

“How to Start Your Own Small Business” Workshop
"SBA Community Express Loan" Program
$5,000 to $50,000 SBA Loans
No Collateral Required

A FREE small business workshop for the minority community will be presented by the Jacksonville State University Small Business Development Center, the Alabama Small Business Institute of Commerce, the Alabama Cooperative Extension System, and the Calhoun County Chamber of Commerce on Tuesday, June 19, 2007, in Room 3 at the Carver Center, 720 West 14th Street, Anniston, AL from 5:00 p.m. to 8:15 p.m. Registration will begin at 4:30 p.m. Information will be presented on how to start, manage and maintain a small business.

The workshop will feature professionals from various fields of business discussing the basic requirements for people wanting to start, manage and maintain their own small business. This will include information on financing, legal structures, tax issues, record keeping, the four P’s of marketing, and the actual steps one must take in order to start a small business.

There will also be a session on the SBA Community Express loan program where start-up and existing business owners can apply for unsecured loans up to $50,000. Guest speakers will be: Mark Cotton of King, Cotton and Sanders, P.C.; Loan Specialist L.D. Ralph from the U.S. Small Business Administration; Reuben Johnson of Merrill Lynch; Isaac Chappell of the Alabama Cooperative Extension System; and Terrell Stewart from the Jacksonville State University Small Business Development Center.

Anyone seeking help in the area of small business is welcome, but minorities are especially encouraged to attend.

This is a FREE Small Business Seminar open to the public; space, however, is limited. Please make reservations so that seating arrangements and corresponding materials can be prepared.
