Stemley Elementary School on Adventure
with JSU Field Schools
"Is that the ocean?" Kendra-the-third-grader asked with big eyes as she scanned Coleman Lake from
shore to shore.
Renee Morrison (JSU Field Schools) had to smile as she answered, "No...this is a spring-fed freshwater lake. It's big though, isn't it?"
The day was filled with adventures as the ninety students learned about lake ecology with Dr. Rayburn, (JSU Biology), and forest ecology with Jeff Gardner (USFS) and Greg Scull (JSU Field Schools). JSU Field Schools partners
with many public lands organizations such as US Forest Service to offer diverse programs to hundreds of children annually.
