JSU President Extends Condolences to VT President

On behalf of the Jacksonville State University community, Dr. Meehan sent a letter of condolence to the president of Virginia Tech University expressing our deepest sympathy to the members of the Virginia Tech University family.  A copy of this letter is printed below in its entirety.

Dear President Steger:

 

            The thoughts and prayers of our students, faculty, staff and administration are with you and all the members of the Virginia Tech University family.  Our deepest condolences are shared with you for the tragic events which occurred in your campus community Monday, April 16, 2007.  We know that this tragedy could occur on any campus at any time. 

 

            Our students and faculty have begun a campus-wide process to express the grief they share and the sympathy they hold for the entire Virginia Tech family.  We know the challenges you face are great and the excellence that is Virginia Tech University will meet and exceed these challenges to heal and strengthen your campus community. 

 

            Your community, like ours, is known for its caring attitude toward students and its commitment toward a quality education.  The character that is Virginia Tech University will rise and shine as a bright Phoenix from the ashes of this tragedy.  Please know the entire campus of Jacksonville State University is remembering the Virginia Tech University family.
