Books for Baghdad Book Drive Begins March 14

A collective effort has been initiated between students at Jacksonville State University and Books for Baghdad project in an attempt to encourage students and faculty to donate books for this humanitarian project. Nakasha Shoyinka, a junior majoring in criminal justice, and Tiffany O'Dell, a sophomore majoring in biology, have volunteered their time to lead the book drive.

The Books for Baghdad Book Drive begins on March 14 and lasts until April 24. Beginning on March 14, textbooks can be dropped off at the following campus locations: 402 Theron Montgomery Bldg. (Office of Student Life), 242 Martin Hall (Biology Department), and 215 Stone Center. In addition, students and faculty can also drop off textbooks at the Jacksonville Bookstore located on the Jacksonville Square. We have set a goal to collect at least 1,000 college textbooks, and we hope to exceed that goal. All textbooks should be no more than seven years old.

Books for Baghdad also accepts school supplies. The deadline for donations is April 24. For more information, contact Dr. Safaa Al-Hamdani, 256-782-5801, sah@jsu.edu.

Please support our activity and make this project a continuous success to send messages of peace from all of us to Baghdad!
