JSU Center Stage Winter Guard at 2007 Winter Guard International South Regional held in Pensacola, Florida

The JSU Center Stage Winter Guard started its regional competition season off with a bang in Pensacola this past weekend at the 2007 Winter Guard International South Regional held in Pensacola, Florida. Thousands of spectators were on hand to see the guard under the direction of Mr. Rodney Bailey take FIRST PLACE in both prelims and in finals competition.

With their win this past weekend, JSU Center Stage Winter Guard is now ranked among the top ten best color guards in the world. In two weeks the guard travels to Nashville, Tennessee for the 2007 Winter Guard International Mid South Regional where they will compete with color guards from around the world for top honors.

Winter Guard exists in the United States, Canada, Holland, Japan, England, Korea, Germany, Ireland, and South Africa.

The JSU Center Stage Winter Guard is a vital part of the Marching Southerners Color Guard and the University Band Department. Each year color guard training for the fall begins with this competitive indoor ensemble. The success of Center Stage has sparked the interest of numerous talented high school students as well as students who are looking to transfer from their current postsecondary institutions. Because of this, the JSU Center Stage Winter Guard has become a unique recruitment tool for Jacksonville State University.
