Alabama Conference for Inventors

“Turning Ideas into Dollars
at the Alabama Conference for Inventors"

Inventors and experts from around the region will be getting together on February 21, 2007, at The Alabama Conference for Inventors. The conference opens at 8:30 a.m. and will be held at the Jacksonville State University Houston Cole Library in Jacksonville, Alabama. Sponsors for the event are the Jacksonville State University (JSU) Center for Economic Development, the JSU Small Business Development Center, INVENT ALABAMA, and the Alabama Small Business Institute for Commerce.

All inventors or potential inventors are welcome and encouraged to attend the Conference which is aimed at helping eliminate some of the barriers to successful inventing as well as providing inventors with good information for furthering their ideas. A variety of topics will be addressed – licensing inventions, financing your invention, U.S. Patent Office updates, internet research, and much more to include two inventors sharing their experiences and problems.

Inventors will have ample opportunity to network with their peers and with speakers. Inventors will also have the chance to talk with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office representative on an individual basis.

John Calvert, U.S. Patent and Trademark Office Administrator for the Inventor Assistance Program, is the featured speaker. Other speakers include Curtis Palmer of TechBirmingham, India Vincent with the law firm Burr & Forman, Bruce Koppenhoefer of INVENT ALABAMA, John Mitchell of Protech Manufacturing, Bill Fargason of Fargason Outdoor Technology, and Andrew Wohrley of the Auburn University Library – a patent depository. Inventors Fargason and Mitchell will also discuss problems, successes, and opportunities they have encountered going through the invention process during an afternoon inventors’ panel.

The conference fee is $49 per participant and includes lunch, breaks, and conference materials. The deadline for registration is Friday, February 16, 2007.
