Online Network Facebook
Academe will meet on Monday, February 19, 2007, at 3:15 p.m. in 1103C, Houston Cole Library. Laurie Charnigo, Education Librarian, and Paula Barnett-Ellis, Nursing and Sciences Librarian, will present "Reconsidering Facebook.com: The Impact of a Digital Trend on Academic Institutions."

They will present the findings from research they have conducted on the impact of Facebook, "an online academic social networking site, on academic institutions. The discussion will include the advantages of Facebook, privacy issues involved, institutional censorship, and how students communicate in academic environments that are becoming increasingly virtual."
