JSU Peer Educators & CCS
Sponsor Tobacco Awareness Day

The Jacksonville State University Peer Educators and Counseling and Career Services (CCS) are sponsoring "Tobacco Awareness Day" Thursday, February 8.

Peer Educators and Counselors will be on hand in the 2nd Floor Lobby of the Theron Montgomery Building (TMB) from 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. to assist you with any tobacco issues you may have. There will be a presentation at 2:00 p.m. in Room 303 TMB by Coretta Grant, LBSW, Tobacco Prevention and Control Coordinator.

In promoting a smoke-free environment, the JSU Peer Educators and CCS staff point out these significant facts:
  • Ten million cigarettes are smoked every minute of every day around the world.

  • 25.7% of college students smoke.

  • Second-hand smoke contains 43 cancer-causing agents.

  • 53,000 non-smokers die each year from secondhand smoke.
Counseling and Career Services sponsors a variety of workshops and events designed to assist students in their career, education, and personal development. These programs are provided free of charge to members of the JSU community.
