Calhoun County Civic Chorale
Begins Its Spring Season

On Monday, January 8, 2007 at 7:15 p.m. the Calhoun County will begin its spring season by holding an open house to welcome new members and returning members. The open house will be held in the Performance Center of Mason Hall on the JSU campus. This spring the Chorale will join forces with A Cappella Choir to perform the masterwork, "German Requiem" by Johannes Brahms.

The Chorale is under the direction of Dr. Patricia Corbin, Jacksonville State University Director of Chorale Activities, and consists of members from the community as well as JSU faculty and students. The Chorale has a history of performing major choral works such as Mozart’s "Vesperae Solennes," Théodore Dubois’ "The Seven Last Words of Christ," Vaughan Williams' "Five Mystical Songs," J. S. Bach’s "Magnificat," Handel’s "Messiah" and Camille Saint Saёns' "The Christmas Oratorio."

Dues for the Chorale are $20 plus the cost of music. Prospective singers may come and participate in this first rehearsal without charge. Refreshments will be served.

The Chorale will not meet on Monday, January 15th but will resume regular rehearsals on January 22nd.
