The SGA recently sponsored its rendition of American Idol, JSU Star. From break dancing to poetry, there was entertainment for everyone. As the crowd cheered, the contestants were giving their all as they vied for a $1000 scholarship. From 16 contestants, the judges selected the three best candidates, and the audience selected the winner from the top three -- Maurice Mullins and Rod Green who performed their original song, Emily Smith and Megan Spivey performed in both song and dance and lastly Marcia Barnes, accompanied by her bass guitarist, sung her original song. After the votes were tallied, Marcia Barnes was selected as 2006 JSU STAR winner.
