Calhoun's Relay for Life Sets a New Record

Calhoun County’s Relay For Life set a fund-raising record last week not only for Alabama, but in a six-state area. The $435,000 raised by the May 12 event is the largest amount raised by a single event in the history of the Relay’s Mid-South Division, said Mary Ann Upchurch, Alabama development director for the American Cancer Society. The division includes six states: Alabama, Kentucky, Tennessee, Mississippi, Arkansas and Louisiana. This year’s total for the annual event at Oxford stadium was 68 percent more than the event raised last year. See story at The Anniston Star's website: www.annistonstar.com.
