JSU's New Tuition Policy Fine with Some Students, Worries Others

A change in Jacksonville State University’s tuition structure will have some undergraduate students later this year paying only a few dollars more while others will pay hundreds more. Under the new tuition plan, effective in the fall, undergraduate students will pay by the credit hour — $169 per hour for in-state students and $338 for out-of-state students. President Meehan said about half of the state’s colleges and universities have changed to a per-hour tuition basis. He said the change likely will cut down on "shopping," a practice in which students enroll in more classes than they intend to take, then drop the ones they do not like.
