Lions Club Campus 5K Race April 15

Who’s faster? The College Republicans or the College Democrats? The Phi Alpha Thetas or the Sigma Theta Taus? The Archaeology Club or the Social Work Club? The JSU Cheerleaders or The JSU Rugby Team? Win a plaque for your student organization in the Jacksonville Lions Club Second Annual Chief Ladiga 5K Challenge on Saturday, April 15, 2006.

Any student organization, which includes any campus special interest groups, athletic support groups, religious groups, service groups, honor societies, media, professional development clubs, and fraternities and sororities, with the most entrants in the race will be presented with a plaque by the Jacksonville Lions Club for greatest participation.

This race, open to both runners and walkers, will start from the Pete Mathews Coliseum on the Jacksonville State University Campus at 8:00 a.m. Race proceeds benefit the charities the club supports yearlong. Some of the services include providing glasses for the needy, transporting the elderly to doctors, distributing food for the needy, a scholarship to Jacksonville State University, as well as donations to The Head Injury Foundation, World Alive Food Program, Boys & Girls Club, Hope Harbor, The American Red Cross, and The Seeing Eye Dog Program.

Information about the race, race entry form, as well as a map of the race course, are available from The Coosa Valley Running Web Site at Lions Club Chief Ladiga 5K Challenge.

The pre-registration fee is $12. The onsite registration fee is $15. Entry forms for preregistration may be picked up and turned in to Laurie Charnigo at the Houston Cole Library (5th floor). For preregistration details and questions, contact Laurie Charnigo at 435-0989 or charnigo@jsu.edu.

All faculty and students are welcome to participate. Come support a good cause, and win esteem and glory for your organization!
