Berman Museum of World History

Beginning this month, Berman Museum will be exhibiting a remarkable collection of Jade sculpture and vessels. This incredible collection consists of about 100 pieces and is valued at approximately $80,000. For more information, call 256-237-6261.

 

 

Spring Break Program: History's Mysteries

Thursday, March 23 & Friday, March 24, 2006

Wrap up Spring Break week with a visit to the Museum and discover some strange and interesting historical facts. Visit the History's Mysteries table to find out about some very unusual historical items. Learn more about world history with a visit to the four permanent exhibit halls. Explore hands-on exhibits that allow children to interact with history. Visit with educational guides in each hall to learn a little more about the museum's amazing collection.

Adventure Series: Etowah Mounds Trip

Saturday, April 8, 2006, 8am-5pm

Join Adam Cleveland, historian and Chris Hill, archaeologist for a trip back in time. Etowah Mounds in Cartersville, Georgia is a major Mississippian Period Cultural Center, and was home to several thousand Native Americans from 1000 to 1500 AD. The impressive archaeological museum interprets life in what is now known as the Etowah Valley Historic District. Trip fee includes transportation, museum and a demonstration of tools and history in the Amphitheater. Reservations required by April 1, 2006. $35/member; $45/non-member; $20/child.

 

Berman Museum of World History 10th Anniversary Celebration

Saturday, April 29, 2006 10 a.m. - 3 p.m.

Bring your blanket, a picnic lunch, and your whole family and celebrate the Berman Museum's 10th Anniversary with us! Enjoy a spring day with an old-fashioned picnic on the ground and live music by the southern traditions band Un-Reconstructed. Their music has graced many re-enactment dances and conferences and has been featured on various commercials, specials and the 140th Shiloh Video production. The band will teach dances such as the Virginia Reel, Patty-Cake Polka and the Carolina Promenade to all ages!

A special program will be presented highlighting the spy and combination weapons from the Berman Museum collection. These wonderful pieces of history are some of the most fascinating items in the collection. Gallery guides will be available to share information on the exhibits and the history of the museum. Drinks and sweets will be available for purchase along with historic toys in the souvenir shop. Bring your lawn chairs or blanket and join the celebration! Exhibit halls will be open from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. Free admission.
