Nature Tyme

Tuesday, February 7, 2006, 9am–10am

Anniston Museum of Natural History Auditorium

Parents, grandparents and toddlers, plan to enjoy a winter morning at the Anniston Museum for Nature Tyme. This program will begin in Nature Space, the children’s hands-on discovery room, with an interactive story time about the natural world. An animal call activity will help children learn how animals communicate. Children will have the opportunity to meet Kira, the Peregrine Falcon. Free with paid

Black Heritage Festival

February 11, 2006, 10am–3pm

Culturally Impacting the Community

Anniston Museum of Natural History

Anniston Museum proudly presents the 26th annual Black Heritage Festival. Organized by Georgia Calhoun, the theme for this year’s festival –Culturally Impacting the Community– focuses on the many strong contributions African Americans make to the community. Students from local schools will compete for cash prizes in the Oratory competitions. Vocal and musical performances and a keynote speaker are featured in the event. Vendors with wares and gift items of all types will be present, offering their merchandise for purchase. For more information call 256-237-6766.

 

Nature Tyme

Anniston’s talented baritone David Rice joins acclaimed Swedish soprano, Stina Ohman in a recital of lieder, operatic arias, and songs accompanied by pianist and event chair Wendy Faughn of Jacksonville State University. Ticketed Concert. Fundraiser: Wine & Cheese Tasting, $10. Wines donated by White Oak Winery and cheese by Wright’s Dairy. Space is still available. Spring Break Program:
Reality is Really Strange
Thursday March 23 & Friday March 24
Anniston Museum of Natural History
The world we live in is a strange and wonderful place. Enjoy Spring Break with a visit to the Museum and learn more about nature’s oddities. Tour seven permanent exhibit halls, explore NatureSpace, the children’s hands-on discovery room, and enjoy daily natural history presentations that include live animals from the Museum collection.
