The Manufacturing Decline
Two Jacksonville State University professors in the College of
Commerce and Business Administration--Richard Cobb, head of the production management department, and Mark Hearn,
a professor of business management, examine the decline in manufacturing in absolute terms. The decrease in manufacturing
holds a paradox: While manufacturing is shrinking as a percentage of the stateís gross domestic product, itís not declining
in absolute terms According to Cobb, the changes in manufacturing are the result of technological progress and are both
natural and beneficial in the long run. See story at The Anniston Star's website: www.annistonstar.com.
