The Manufacturing Decline

Two Jacksonville State University professors in the College of Commerce and Business Administration--Richard Cobb, head of the production management department, and Mark Hearn, a professor of business management, examine the decline in manufacturing in absolute terms. The decrease in manufacturing holds a paradox: While manufacturing is shrinking as a percentage of the state’s gross domestic product, it’s not declining in absolute terms According to Cobb, the changes in manufacturing are the result of technological progress and are both natural and beneficial in the long run.
