First Graduation Ceremony After Turf Installation

Summer Graduation to be Held in Updated Stadium Friday, July 29

Jacksonville State University's summer graduation will be held beginning at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, July 29, in Paul Snow Stadium. The event will be moved, in the case of inclement weather, to Mathews Coliseum.

The Summer 2005 commencement will be the first in the newly improved Snow Stadium, where the field is being surfaced with ProGrass, an artificial turf.

"The construction team will begin to lay the carpet in the stadium on July 5th," said Miller Parnell, manager of building projects and inspection at JSU. "It should take only 14 days to complete the installation of the carpet."

Candidates for graduation must assemble for rehearsal at 9 a.m. Friday, July 29, at Snow Stadium. Attendance at rehearsal is mandatory. That evening, candidates must arrive and go directly to their assigned sear in the stadium at 7:15 p.m.

Graduation ceremonies will be available through video streaming on the Internet at www.jsu.edu. The program will be archived for two weeks after commencement. The ceremony will also be televised live on WJXS (local CableOne, Channel 9). Other cable companies channels include TV 24 (CableOne in Anniston, Oxford, Pell City, Munford, and Jacksonville), Charter (Piedmont, Southside, and Heflin), Leesburg Cable, Collinsville Cable, Lookout Cable (Gaylesville), and Cherokee County Cable (Centre).

Further graduation information is available on JSU's website at www.jsu.edu/gradinfo.html .
