Jennifer Bacchus Named Chanticleer Editor

By Randy Wilson
JSU News Bureau

Jacksonville State University's Department of Communication recently announced the selection of Jennifer Bacchus of Tuscaloosa as editor-in-chief of the Chanticleer.

The university's communications board chose Miss Bacchus following a competitive process that included interviews with top student applicants. The Chanticleer, which circulates on JSU's main campus and is the official newspaper for JSU's nearly 9,000 students, offers journalistic experience in such areas as writing, photography, editing, and layout.

Miss Bacchus is a rising senior majoring in communication and minoring in English. Her experience includes serving as a news writer for the Chanticleer and as writer, publisher, and editor of The Writer's Guild, the newsletter of the JSU Writers' Club.

"Ever since I began working with the paper, I've been amazed at what I've learned about the campus community," said Miss Bacchus. "I'm really excited about having the opportunity to share that knowledge with the students and faculty."

Miss Bacchus, who assumed her new responsibilities on May 2, is a member of the Society of Professional Journalists.
