Communication Dept. Workshops Held Summer 2005

The Communication Dept. has just completed its first workshop for the 2005 Summer Journalism Institute, and about to begin the second. The second one--the Minority Journalism Workshop--sponsored by the Alabama Press Association, begins Friday, 6/17/05 and ends Tuesday, 6/21/05.

Both workshops are geared toward encouraging young Alabamians to become interested in and pursue a career in the journalism and Mass Communication field by becoming editors, reporters, news directors, anchors, or other communication professionals. The aim is to lay foundation for a future generation of journalists to serve the state of Alabama and the nation.

Each of these residential workshops is a four-day intensive program that takes students through the basics of producing a newspaper, radio program, TV program, and public relations package. It also covers an overview of the communication field and career prospects.
