Piper Foundation Honors Lovett

O. Rufus Lovett was named a Piper Professor at Kilgore College in Texas, where he is entering his 29th year as a photography instructor. He is the son of JSU retirees Mr. and Mrs. Opal Lovett of Jacksonville and a 1970 graduate of Jacksonville High School.

Lovett was named a Piper Professor by the Minnie Stevens Piper Foundation of San Antonio. As part of the honor, he also received a $5,000 honorarium and a gold pin.

His parents taught at JSU and Jacksonville High School for more than 35 years. Lovett received his bachelor's in art from Sam Houston State University and his master's in art from East Texas State University.
