Art Turner to Perform Sunday Morning

Special piano music will be at First United Methodist Church in Jacksonville Sunday, June 12, during 8:30 and 10:50 a.m. services. Music composed and performed by Arthur “Art” Turner, son of John and Emogene Turner, will be featured. Mr. Turner has a CD entitled Art Effects.

He is an honor graduate of Jacksonville High School, Jacksonville State University and holds a master’s degree in political science from the University of Alabama. He is a former piano student of Jacksonville teachers Dr. Dona Sanders Lusted and Dr. Susie Francis Dempsey. He and his wife Teresa Phillips Turner of Alexandria live Singapore with their son where they serve the International Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention.

The Turners have an extensive background of mission service. They attended Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, N.C. In 1998 they began living, working and studying in several foreign mission areas, including Limassol, Cyprus, the Caucasus region of southern Russia, and St. Petersburg, Russia. In 2000, the Turners moved to Bangalore, India. They move to provide research support for the board’s humanitarian aid and cross-cultural communication projects in South Asia. The Turners moved to Singapore in 2004.

Shortly after Mr. Turner arrived in Singapore, he began to focus on producing a CD of solo piano pieces. It was released in March and contains eleven songs – five hymn arrangements and six original compositions. For purchase information, go to www.artspianomusic.com.
