Soap Opera Ain't Got Nothin' on Mozart

That’s right!  “Days of Our Lives” can’t hold a candle to the twists and turns of eighteenth century opera, especially when it is written by Mozart. The plot of Lunatics and Lovers doesn’t stop at a “love triangle". . . it makes a complete “love cube” with each character in love with someone else.  Sound familiar?  Jacksonville State University’s Mason Hall will be transformed into an Italian estate of circa 1775 when chaos breaks loose among red hot Italian lovers as they sing their way through three acts of unbridled passion.

Intrigued? There’s more. . . Nathan Wight is at it again. . . having resurrected the opera program at Jacksonville State University after at least fifteen years of no opera, Jacksonville Opera Theatre mounts it first full-length opera, complete with avant-garde setting and lighting.  The cast of seven singers are now in their third opera production in twelve months!

Interested?  The fun begins on Friday evening, May 27 and continues on Saturday evening, May 28.  Curtain time is 7:30 p.m.  Tickets are $5.  Call 782-5876 for an evening you will never forget!
