26 January, 2004 — Friends of Houston Cole Library and the Alabama Humanities Foundation (AHF) will host a program about singing legend Hank Williams, Sr. on Tuesday, February 22 at 2:30 p.m. at JSU’s Cole library.

Speaking about the singer will be Alan Brown, English instructor and Writing Center director at the University of West Alabama. He is also a member of the AHF speakers bureau.

The program is about how the boyhood years of Hank Williams Sr. influenced his writing and singing style. Williams grew up in Chapman and also lived in Montgomery. Brown will use video, slides, and recordings of Williams’ songs to help the audience understand why Williams’ appeal has extended beyond country western music and why he is considered to be one of the greatest singers who ever lived.
