Car Show Benefit for Coach Gary Deboy June 26

June 16, 2004 --Friends of the Jacksonville State University rifle coach, Gerald "Gary" DeBoy, will hold a benefit car show at 8 a.m. on Saturday, 26 June.

DeBoy, who has coached JSU's rifle team for the past ten years, injured his spinal column in December 2003 and has been unable to walk. He is undergoing rehabilitation.

DeBoy is a retired army master sergeant who served for several years in JSU's ROTC department.

The benefit will be held in front of Theron Montgomery Building on campus. Admission is free. Participants who wish to show cars will pay a $20 entry fee. Donations from the public are sought. Prizes will be given away, including a pedal car.

Money from the benefit will be applied toward the purchase of construction materials to add an addition to DeBoy's home. Coach DeBoy, who must use a wheelchair, is confined to his home.

The event is sponsored by West Side Baptist Church. For further information call the church at 435-6111.
