May 12, 2004 -- The Jacksonville State University Jazz I, Big Band, will perform at 3 p.m. on Sunday, May 16 in the Performance Center of Mason Hall. This concert is free and open to the public and will be the group's last performance before recording their new CD next week. This recording will be the first one made since 2000 and will mark the debut of the new Director of Jazz Studies, Dr. Chip Crotts. The CD should be out and available to the public sometime in the early fall.

Said Dr. Crofts, "We are doing alot of exciting things in the Jazz Program here at JSU and much more in store for the upcoming school year. I just want to thank everyone for all of their support throughout the year and feel free to come out and enjoy the band one more time this spring!"

Come enjoy the music of one of the top big bands in the Southeast and support live jazz in Alabama.
