Wildflower Saturday at the Parks!

April 30, 2004 -- Enjoy both the State Park and National Preserve's spring bloom.  With its abundance of rhododendron and mountain laurel, there are few places lovelier than Little River Canyon in May.  Come enjoy a blooming good day on Saturday, May 1, 2004. No fee or registration is necessary.

Field botanist Steve Threlkeld will explore the flora at DeSoto State Park.  He will offer multiple hikes throughout the day at DeSoto State Park Nature Center, with the first hike beginning at 8:30 a.m.

National Park Ranger Larry Beane will guide you through a memorable wildflower experience.  Join him for a morning or afternoon hike at Little River Canyon National Preserve, Beaver Pond Trail Head (under the power lines on AL 176, one mile south of AL 35. Ranger Beane has scheduled four presentations: the first at 9:00 a.m., the second at­ 11:00 a.m., again at 1:00 p.m. and the last one of the day at­ 3:00 p.m.
