View the Total Lunar Eclipse from Chimney Peak, Thursday Night, May 15 from 9 - 10:30 p.m.




May 12, 2003 -- Join Jacksonville State University astronomer Dr. Laura Weinkauf for a free program hosted by JSU's Little River Canyon Field School and the Department of Physical and Earth Sciences to watch the Full Moon slide into the Earth's shadow on May 15.

The eclipse will begin at approximately 9 p.m. and will reach totality at about 10:15. Dr. Weinkauf will also have a telescope available to look at a variety of celestial objects.

Chimney Peak is located on the East end of Mountain Avenue in Jacksonville. Parking is limited at the top, so some walking will be involved to reach the viewing area. This event will be cancelled in case of rain or heavy cloud cover.
