Shrinking Allocations Result in
Tuition Increase




April 23, 2003 -- Jacksonville State University's Board of Trustees on Monday increased tuition and the fees for residence halls in response to shrinking state allocations to the institution.

The $150 per semester increase will become effective for the fall semester as follows:

UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS:

-- $1770 per regular semester for 12 to 16 semester hours;
-- $148 per hour for less than 12 semester hours or additional hours over 16 semester hours;
-- Out-of-state fees, additional $1770 for 12 to 16 semester hours and an additional $148 per hour for less than 12 semester hours or additional hours over 16 semester hours.

GRADUATE STUDENTS:

-- $1770 per regular semester for 10 to 12 semester hours;
-- $177 per hour for less than 10 semester hours or additional hours over 12 semester hours;
-- Out-of-state fees, additional $1770 for 10 to 12 semester hours and an additional $177 per hour for less than 10 semester hours or additional hours over 12 semester hours.

Terms other than fall and spring shall be at the per hour rate. Student residency will be established by the criteria directed by statute.

HOUSING

The regular semester rates, not including cable costs, for residence calls shall be as follows:

-- Daugette - $533.50
-- Crow, Dixon, and Fitzpatrick - $632.50
-- Sparkman - $643.50
-- Logan and Patterson - $814.00

The rates for apartments will remain the same.
