JSU's Alpha Sigma Omega
Members Receive Awards
in National Competition


April 8, 2003 -- The Alpha Sigma Omega chapter of the American Criminal Justice Association/Lambda Alpha Epsilon participated in the ACJS national conference in April. The conference was held in Orlando, Florida and involved criminal justice students and professionals from across the nation. ASO members participated in all categories of competition. The categories of competition were firearms, physical agility, crime scene investigation and academic knowledge. The following is a list of the winners from JSU in these national competitions:

  • Crime Scene Investigation--In the upper division (juniors and seniors) ASO members Jessica Walthall, Sharon Brooks, and Hunter Cowing placed 3rd.

  • Sharon Brooks won an ACJA National Scholarship for upper division members.

  • Dr. Rick Davis won 2nd place in the police management academic competition for the professional division.
These awards are published online at ACJALAE.org and will be published in upcoming journal of the American Criminal Justice Society.
