Kaleidoscope Event Features
“A Night at the Opera”


The Calhoun County Chorale will present “A Night at the Opera,” a concert of vocal highlights from operas and operettas on Saturday, March 8, 2003 at 7:00 p.m. in Jacksonville State University's Ernest Stone Performing Arts Center.

The concert will feature guest artists Monica Zerbe, a voice faculty member from the University of Montevallo, and James Taylor, a voice faculty member and Director of Opera at the University of Alabama. JSU Music faculty Teresa Stricklin, Samuel Brown and Richard Armstrong as well as Anniston residents Anne Kerr and Jenny Wall, and Oxford resident and JSU alumnus Kimberly Mullendore, will also be featured soloists on the program.

The concert will contain music from many well-known and beloved operas and operettas, such as Verdi’s "La Traviata," Puccini’s "Madame Butterfly" and "La Bohème," Bizet’s "Carmen," and "The Pirates of Penzance" by Gilbert and Sullivan.

The Chorale is under the direction of Dr. Patricia Corbin, JSU director of choral activities, who will be accompanied by Dr. Wendy Channel, JSU staff accompanist.

The concert is part of the Jacksonville State University Kaleidoscope - Festival of the Arts, and is free and open to the public. For more information, please contact the JSU Choral Department at (256) 782-5544.
