3 inducted into
Teacher Hall of Fame

JACKSONVILLE -- May 16, 2001 -- Jacksonville State University inducted three outstanding classroom teachers into its annual state Teacher Hall of Fame during an awards program on May 14.

The winners are:

Elementary Division: Billy Jenkins, Ivalee Elementary, Etowah County

Middle School Division: Nancy Adams Waldrop, Alabama Avenue Middle, Albertville City Schools

Secondary School Division: Patricia Powell-McCullers, J.U. Blacksher School, Monroe County

These inductees received certificates and will have their names inscribed on the Hall of Fame plaque which is displayed in the lobby of the Houston Cole Library on the JSU Campus.

The JSU Teacher Hall of Fame was established by JSU President Houston Cole in 1969 to honor outstanding public classroom teachers. Sixty-three previous winners have been inducted into the state's oldest teacher recognition program.
