JSU Drama Department Presents
"The Bayou Merchant"


JACKSONVILLE -- May 1, 2001 -- The Jacksonville State University Department of Drama presents the premier performance of Daniel DuPlantis' "The Bayou Merchant," winner of the 2000 Playwright's Competition, at 7:00 p.m. on May 24, 25, 26 and at 2:00 p.m. on May 27 at Ernest Stone Performing Arts Center.

This play may not be appropriate for children under the age of 13.

After making a shambles of the funeral of his beloved by declaring his disbelief in God Almighty for taking his "blessed wife" from him, retired Louisiana shrimp boat captain, Lulu St. Marie, experiences a gradual change of heart when he and his best-friend, Bourgeois, begin to encounter strange happenings which they attribute to their late wives in the great beyond.

All are JSU students.
